Caliper Painting in Harrow

Calipers live behind the wheels, so it makes no sense to paint them well and paint the wheels badly — or the other way round. We quote caliper painting as a fixed figure per axle, done properly with the wheel off, the caliper prepped and the colour you name in the booking.

Quoted fixed, before booking

This work is priced on its specifics once we can see the job — photographs get a fixed figure the same day, and that figure holds at booking rather than surfacing later on an invoice.

About

A small job done like a big job

Caliper painting attracts the worst habits in the trade: brush-on kits, aerosol overspray on the discs, and red paint over grime that flakes off before the first winter ends. Ours is a stripped-down paint job — calipers degreased, lightly abraded, masked out from the brake hoses and bleed nipples, then sealed with high-temperature colour and a corrosion-protective finish that stands up to the heat cycles braking actually produces.

Where Harrow customers come in is usually one of two routes. The first is the upgrade: a set of refinished or new wheels showing off calipers that are still grimy silver, and the contrast looks unfinished. The second is the performance look — calling it 'red calipers' is fine, but we also match colours properly: silver over gold, yellow over blue visibility, or something matched to the car's own accent trim. You name it when booking; we mix from a high-temperature palette rather than hoping the aerosol shelf has it.

Because the wheels come off entirely, caliper painting pairs naturally with alloy refurbishment on the same visit — one set of removals serves both jobs, and the combined quote reflects that. It is priced per axle at quotation rather than from a catalogue, because cars, caliper shapes and colours all vary, and a real quote beats a fake 'from' figure that finds ways to rise.

Caliper work is finished inside the same climate-controlled booths and to the same insurer-approved paint methods as the rest of the bodyshop's refinishing, and carries our lifetime paint warranty. Workshop quality runs under ISO 9001 processes, with ISO 27001 covering the customer details behind each booked job.

Our process

How the wheels come off

Four steps, none of them optional, because a caliper visible through a wheel gap shows everything.

01

Wheels off, car raised

Both axles' wheels come off properly, not turned-and-reached — the caliper is serviced with clear access, and anything we spot (sticky sliders, thin pads, leaking seals) is reported before paint goes near it.

02

Clean, strip, mask

Degrease and abrade the caliper body, mask out hoses, bleed nipples and pad contact faces, and bag the disc so no colour lands on a braking surface. Preparation, not paint, decides the finish.

03

Colour in high-temperature coats

Your chosen colour is applied in sealed, heat-cured passes built for brake temperatures — not shop-aerosol paint that goes chalky at the first hill start. Built edges stay crisp because the masking came off in one go.

04

Wheels on, brakes bedded

Wheels go back on with correct torque, the car comes down clean, and we check the brake operation before handover. If the wheels were being refurbished, they return painted as part of the same job.

COMMON
QUESTIONS.

Everything insurance, parts, timelines and warranties. Can't find your answer? Our team is one call away.

It is quoted, not guess-listed — calipers differ in shape, access and how many coats a colour needs, so we give one fixed figure per axle from photos of your setup, and that figure does not move once booked. Send images of the wheels and calipers and the quote is usually back the same day.
